| A Beautiful Day in Beijing Yesterday Beijing was covered with a blanket of "something" resulting in the airport canceling all flights in or out. Below are before and after pictures of the view from our kitchen window.

| The Thai Guo During Pre-Conference we had Sunday off, so Lisa and I decided to go on a bike ride. We originally wanted to have a taxi take us to the top of the hill and we would ease our way down enjoying the scenery. Every time we shared our plan with the locals they shook their heads with an amazed look and said "too dangerous." So we decided to play it safe and ride to a lake just north of Chiang Mai. It ended being a 4 hour ride, but it was worth it. I really needed to get out into nature after being in Beijing for 5 months straight without a break from the buildings and smog. So, here is what it looked like:

The other day we had blue skies, so I took some pictures of our new neighborhood. We live at Xizhimen, which is a famous area in Beijing. We live conveniently close to the subway station. The one picture without blue skies is of a traffic jam in front of Carrefour, a large shopping center close to Xizhimen. |
